Service Description
For who: Actors with some experience or beginners who have completed Acting For Beginners Budi Miller introduces his foundational actor training of Michael Chekhov with mask work. Training with masks gives an actor an experience of what it viscerally feels like to embody a character. Participants will empower their physical relationship to the actor’s imagination. This workshop encompasses fundamental approaches to actor’s movement, improvisation, physical awareness, ensemble training, and character embodiment. You will unlock the deep knowledge of the physical and emotional body and enrich your understanding of the psychological processes at work in the imaginative world giving you a visceral experience of character transformation. Some prior acting training experience is recommended. Comfortable attire for non-restrictive movement required. These sessions are taught and facilitated by Budi Miller. BUDI MILLER is a Lead Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and Director of Advanced Training for the Fitzmaurice Institute. He is Co-Artistic Director of the Theatre of Others. He is a UNESCO-designated master teacher of mask work. He was the Head of Acting, at Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. He has been an actor-director-writer-teacher in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Australia, Malaysia, India, and Indonesia since 1992. He is the first African American ceremonial mask dancer of Bali. He has coached and inspired the work of Emmy and Academy Award nominated performances and seasoned professionals of stage and screen.
